I used to coach marathon runners.
I would take teams of runners out on long
10,15,20 mile runs.

One of my favorite drills was after a long run

fast time of 7 min miles for the very last mile!!

My inducement to get them to run so fast
when they were already so tired was to tell them

of their body…even against what just a few
short minutes before appeared to be an
