Hey Kevin Pritchett here:

I’m reading Angela Duckworth’s wonderful book entitled ‘Grit.’
She’s a Harvard trained psychologist who studies achievement.  Her book contains a fascinating test that she claims determines how successful someone will be.  My results were ‘spot on.’

How Successful Will You Be?

To calculate what Duckworth calls your “total grit score” add up all the points for the boxes you selected and divide by 10.  The maximum score on this scale is 5 (extremely gritty) and the lowest possible score is 1 (not at all gritty).

Use the chart below to see how your score compares to a large sample of American adults:

Percentile                                 Grit Score

10%                                            2.5
20%                                           3.0
30%                                           3.3
40%                                           3.5
50%                                           3.8
60%                                           3.9
70%                                            4.1
80%                                           4.3
90%                                           4.5
95%                                            4.7
99%                                           4.9

According to Duckworth, ‘Grit’ has 2 components: passion and perseverance.  If you want to dig a little deeper you can calculate separate scores for each component.  For your passion score, add up your points for the odd-numbered items and divide by 5.  For your perseverance score, add up your points for the even-numbered items and divide by 5.

How Successful Will You Be?

The higher your passion and perseverance scores, the more likely you are to be someone who sticks with it until its done….conversely the lower the scores the more you tend to give up BEFORE you reach your goal.

Grit=Success

My total grit score put me in the 99th percentile…no surprise to me.  I often say “I’m like a dog with a bone…” and won’t stop until I achieve my goal….for example

– skipped half of 4th grate into 5th grade…smartest kid in 5th
-elite prep school..graduate of the year
-4 year academic scholarship to U of Notre Dame
-law degree from U of Cal Berkeley, School of Law (totp 5 law
school)
-admitted into 4 Medical schools
-completed 7 marathons (26.2 mile runs)
-completed 5 500 mile week long bike rides
-own several 6 figure (soon to be 7 figure) businesses
-learned how to play piano starting at age 30
-learned how to sight read music and now sing in several
semi-professional symphony and small ensemble choral
groups.

I am a machine…always have been.   And now that I take this test I see that a HUGE part of my success has and is:

– my belief that I can DO ANYTHING I desire;
-my ability to FOCUS over time on what I want
-my ability to FOLLOW THROUGH until I attain my goal.

Components of Success
What I find fascinating from the test results overall is how consistently important to ALL success across all spectrums these traits are.

DO YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN ACHIEVE WHAT YOU WANT?

DO YOU FOCUS LIKE A LASER BEAM?

DO YOU FOLLOW THROUGH UNTIL YOU ACHIEVE?

I do and I obtain the results….

  1. I haven’t had a ‘j-o-b in over 32 years..no boss;
  2. I do what I want when I want
  3. I awake each day happy, excited and taking on new challenges
  4. Oh..and I own several 6 figure businesses

Now I know you want this for yourself…and I can show you how to get it….

The choice is so very clear…do you have the ‘Grit’ to make it yours?
