“Yahoo PPC Is Disappearing!!”

Greetings Kevin Pritchett here

Did you hear…Yahoo PPC is merging into MSN!!  I just received an email on Thursday (right as I was in the midst of creating over 81 adgroups on Yahoo…urrrggg)

All the details are not yet in but it looks like all ads in Yahoo PPC will now have to be placed on MSN.   What’s the big deal? Read on.

The issue is that the ad requirements are different on MSN than on Yahoo.  For example, you only have 25 characters for headline on MSN…many more on Yahoo.  Other differences as well.

Not sure yet if ads will have to be migrated  manually or if there will be some automatic import.  I suspect manually…so get ready.

The email I received stated that Yahoo wanted to have this migration done before the busy holiday season…but they would postpone if it looked like it would cause too much hardship.

So, here’s what you need to do:

1. Until the move happens, continue to place ads on Yahoo.  Yahoo has more traffic than MSN for now.

2.  Become aware of the differences in ad requirements for MSN.

3.  Start placing all your ads on MSN (you should have already been doing this all along….)

4.  Don’t forget Google.  Google PPC still has over 85% of the search engine traffic.  I know there have been some issues with Google recently but if you use a “non replicated” page and have an ad headline that is congruent with the headline on your non replicated page, you should be fine on Google.  Having said this, Google is CONSTANTLY changing its parameters so stay tuned.

Let me say this too about all the down right hysteria around Google.  In the midst of EVERY crisis there is ALWAYS an opportunity.  I don’t know about you but I plan on doing whatever it takes to continue advertising on Google PPC. If others are leaving this space guess what…leaves some opportunity for me in the vacuum.

Also, before I end. keep your eyes peeled for some BIG changes on my blog.  I am putting the finishing touches on a new look for the blog and the introduction in the Fall of a brand new members only area where I will place some of my VERY BEST training, videos and content.  I’ll keep you posted.

Please leave your comments below if you have any questions about this proposed Yahoo migration or any other issues surrounding Google PPC.  I promise to answer every question.

As Always
